We explore the Fisher & Paykel Experience Centre

One of the exciting but challenging stages in any homeowners design journey is designing the Kitchen!  As the hub of the home, we work tirelessly with our clients to refine their needs, ideas and wish lists to ensure that their dream Kitchen can come to life.  But choosing the appliances often finds clients faced with a myriad of options and questions –  What are the best products on the market?  Do I really need all of these different appliances?  Should everything be from one brand? How do you balance functionality with “looks”? How do I know if I’m going to like the way it works? And what about the cost – appliances can be expensive?   It is often difficult to make decisions when there are so many options lined up side by side on a showroom floor and you are faced with so many choices, options for features, and very little idea of how they might work for you in your home.  Not anymore, as The Designory team discovered at their recent visit to the Fisher & Paykel Experience Centre in Alexandria.

The Experience Centre was designed by New Zealand Architecture and Design firm, Fearon Hay, and is every bit as exquisite as their beautiful residential projects.   The space has been specially designed and curated to provide access to the full range of Fisher& Paykel’s range of streamlined products in what feels like a residential setting, but it delivers so much more than that.  As Designers ourselves we were wowed by the delightfully detailed and bespoke finishes through the whole showroom – Riverstone bench tops, metal trim details, joinery floating above the floor and cupboards made to mimic steel.   On one hand, the centre provides a space for design teams like ours to work closely with the Fisher and Paykel experts to customise and design Kitchens for our clients allowing us to deliver high end, streamlined outcomes every time.  But it allows retail customers and homeowners to explore and use their products in real kitchen and laundry settings plus (and this was our favourite part) it hosts cooking classes with their incredible in-house chef, Cassie.  Whilst we were busy exploring the stunning showroom, Cassie cooked up a feast of Zucchini Fritters with a delicious Kale and Roasted Nut pesto along with a Granola, Berry & Coconut Yogurt Parfait using the latest induction technology and sleek multi-function ovens from their award winning range. Divine!

Whilst in the showroom the team explored some of the incredible products which were specified by The Designory for OTTONN’s latest development project, Ayana House.  We worked closely with the Fisher and Paykel team to select their top of the line appliances from across their entire range of cooking and cooling options.  Some of our favourites was the incredible new-to-the-market fridge which can be fully integrated in our solid timber Joinery – giving a high end, handcrafted and bespoke look to the kitchen.  Another favourite is the new Cool Drawer which is a fantastic multi-purpose alternative to a wine fridge.  It will be located at the end of the Kitchen in close proximity to the outdoor entertaining area and top of the line DCS Grill from their range.  The perfect entertaining combo!  The Fisher & Paykel team are highly focused on innovation which we love – it means they are constantly working on producing more streamlined, functional and beautiful products which pack a punch but don’t strain the budget!

ActiveSmart™ Fridge 900mm French Door Slide-in with Ice & Water – Stainless Steel

Up until now truly integrated refrigeration was unattainable. Complicated and extensive remodelling was needed for a fridge to be built into surrounding cabinetry to achieve seamless integration into the kitchen. This fridge is specially designed for simple slide-in installation.
