The Design Hunter welcomes Mr Frag in-store
The Design Hunter is thrilled to announce we now have a selection of Mr.Fräg items available in-store for you browse and buy. Crafted by hand these designer items are an instant update to any home.‘Dowel’ is a family of stools that celebrate a rich and yet unlikely combination of materials with its polished solid brass seat and understated turned timber legs. Inspiration came loosely from the use of brass in architecture and particularly the way it used as a material we interact with as a touch point. The name however conveys the stools sense of simplicity, honesty and that every element is essential to the design. The stools come in a counter height of 640mm and a bar height of 740mm. The legs are hand turned out of American White Ash with a traditional Danish soap or ebonized in a Japan black finish. The American Walnut legs are finished with natural Danish oil and hard bees wax. ‘Dowel’ has been specifically designed using natural materials and finishes so that it will age gracefully, gaining a mellowness of patina through time. Frag Woodall is an industrial design graduate from The University of Technology Sydney. His design studio Mr.Fräg focuses on interiors and products such as furniture lighting and home-wares. The central ideas within his design philosophy are to allow the products to have functional honesty, material integrity and a sense of poetry, wit or humour which communicates and connects on a human level. “… But these are all individual elements that contribute to the design, it is storytelling that is the true artful activity that binds together all the other elements”. “It is these ideals that I try to peruse and when they are present I feel that a design has more relate-ability and clarity”. The ‘Cloud’ series is a collection of three small occasional tables in various sizes and heights. Tops are manufactured in white Carrera marble with a honed silk surface. Legs are turned out of American White Oak with a traditional Danish soap finish. The projects focal point is that of expressing the joint detail and creating a vibrant dialogue between the materials. The tables themselves explain how they are made, it is this ‘readability’ that is essential to the design. An element of the design philosophy was to work with a sophisticated material like marble giving it a more humble and light-hearted expression, whilst paying homage to Scandinavian honesty and simplicity. We are so thrilled to have a selection of the Dowel Stools and Cloud Tables, pictured above available in our Waverley boutique located at 316 Bronte Rd, Waverley.
